Overview

The fellows chosen for "JICA-KIRIN Fellowship Program" will conduct research on their selected research topics for one year under the guidance of the Food Research Institute at the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) in Tsukuba, Ibaraki prefecture.

Program Flow

Admission

The fellows enter Japan from late March to early April. They have their first meeting with all the people concerned at the Award Ceremony, and then their research activities start.

Research and Development

The fellows conduct research on their selected research topics for one year under the guidance of the Food Research Institute at the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) in Tsukuba, Ibaraki prefecture. They also participate in academic conferences and international symposiums so that they can broaden their knowledge and build their future research cooperation.

Networking

During one-year stay, fellows visit Kirin Group’s laboratories for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and research institutes with leading edge technology of fermentation that are used in medicines and health food and so on. Networking events are held for the fellows and the employees, where the fellow researchers present their research contents, and employees introduce the research institute and present their research, thereby getting to know each other better.

Research Result Presentation and Award Ceremony

Fellows present their research result of the year where all the fellows and other people concerned are gathering. Afterwards, they celebrate graduation at the Award Ceremony.
