Kirin Nature School in Sri Lanka
The Kirin Group has implemented various initiatives to create positive impact*1– the core message of its Environmental Vision 2050 – for the next generation. These include environmental education programs for junior and senior high school students and nature-focused programs for elementary school students. This time, we held the "Kirin Nature School in Sri Lanka" at two elementary and junior high schools located on tea plantations in Sri Lanka, which are positioned upstream in the Kirin Group's supply chain. The program focused on teaching the significance of environmental conservation and the importance of biodiversity. The Kirin Nature School program will continue to be implemented on an ongoing basis.
*1 Moving beyond initiatives limited to our own company, we aim to broaden both the initiatives and their ripple effects across society, working together with communities and the young people who will lead the next generation to build a better future.
In December 2024, the Kirin Group began operating the "Regenerative Tea Scorecard" – a tool jointly developed with the Rainforest Alliance (CEO: Santiago Gowland) to facilitate the transition from conventional tea farming to regenerative agriculture*2. The scorecard outlines methods to enhance soil health, conserve biodiversity within plantations, restore ecosystems, and improve the livelihoods of people working on the plantations. Furthermore, since June 2025, Kirin has been conducting joint research with the University of Tokyo at plantations where the scorecard is in use, confirming the presence of endangered and endemic species, and examining the role of riparian areas in their conservation*3.
To make a lasting contribution to Nature-Positive initiatives at Sri Lankan tea plantations, we believe it is essential to share knowledge about the significance of environmental conservation and biodiversity together with the young people who will lead the next generation. This is why we launched the “Kirin Nature School in Sri Lanka”.

In the future, the Kirin Group will continue to tackle complex and interrelated environmental issues (biological resources, water resources, containers and packaging, climate change) in an integrated manner, and to work together with all those involved in the value chain to connect the desire to enjoy and pass on the Earth's bounty to future generations. We will actively promote various initiatives that have a 'positive impact' on nature and people.
