Notice regarding Acquisition of Shares in Myanmar Brewery Limited by
Kirin Holdings Singapore Pte. Ltd.

Kirin Holdings Company, Limited (President and CEO: Yoshinori Isozaki; hereafter: “Kirin”) today announced that its Southeast Asian subsidiary Kirin Holdings Singapore Pte. Ltd. (Managing Director: Hiroshi Fujikawa; hereafter: “KHSPL”) has, as of August 19th, 2015 (local time), acquired 55% of all outstanding shares in Myanmar Brewery Limited (Chairman: Nay Wynn; hereafter: “MBL”) from Fraser and Neave, Limited (Chairman: Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi; hereafter: “F&N”). KHSPL was appointed by Myanmar Economic Holdings Limited (Chairman: Hsan Oo; hereafter “MEHL”) as its nominee for the share transfer from F&N. The share acquisition price was 560 million US dollars (approximately 69.7 billion yen1).

MBL is Myanmar’s top beer company, which manufactures and sells brands including the award-winning Myanmar Beer, Andaman Gold, and Myanmar Double Strong. With an extensive nationwide sales network centered in Yangon where MBL has its production base, MBL has significantly expanded its business throughout Myanmar since it was established. Myanmar is an exciting market with considerable prospects — high growth and increasing consumer consumption have been forecasted following the country’s recent democratization, ongoing reforms and the progressive lifting of previous economic sanctions. Kirin aims for further growth by leveraging its own expertise in technology, product development, and research and marketing, and MBL’s business foundation.

In its Kirin Group Vision 2021 (KV2021) — the company’s long-term business framework — Kirin is developing integrated beverages business under its global management system focused on Oceania, Brazil and Southeast Asia. With this latest investment in Myanmar, Kirin will further strengthen its business in the Southeast Asian region.
