• Launches coincide with 50th anniversary of the renowned FUJI GOTEMBA DISTILLERY
• A blend of the best malt and grain whiskies from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s, as well as the Whisky distilled in 1973, the year the distillery began operations.

TOKYO, Friday October 20, 2023 – Kirin Brewery Company, Limited (Kirin Brewery) will release its Kirin Single Blended Japanese Whisky FUJI 50th Anniversary Edition, a limited edition, on Tuesday, November 21.

The FUJI GOTEMBA DISTILLERY, which began operations in 1973, is one of only a few worldwide that can produce both malt and grain whiskies, having incorporated the world’s leading Scotch, American, and Canadian Whisky production technologies.

Launched in 2020, the FUJI brand has been highly acclaimed around the world for its flavor, and its performance in 2022 grew significantly, increasing approximately tenfold*1 in the three years since its launch. In particular, the brand has been highly acclaimed by consumers in Japan and overseas for its flavor created by the variety of whiskies, each with its own unique origins, and the world’s best*2 blending technology. The company is also expanding its overseas operations, starting sales in 13 new European countries this fall.

Kirin Single Malt Japanese Whisky FUJI 50th Anniversary Edition, a limited edition of 3,000 bottles released in May of this year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the distillery, also attracted a great deal of attention, with over 200 consumers visiting the FUJI GOTEMBA DISTILLERY on the day of release.

In our 2022-2024 Medium-Term Business Plan, we have stated that we will focus on whisky category as a business that will support Kirin Brewery in the next 10 years, and this year, the second year of the plan, we will strengthen our efforts to promote the appeal of the FUJI GOTEMBA DISTILLERY, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, to revitalize both Kirin’s whisky business and the Japanese whisky market as a whole.
