Integrated Scenario Analyses and Assessments of Climate- and Nature-related Risks and Opportunities

The Kirin Group Environmental Report 2026 presents updated climate-related scenarios and newly developed nature-related scenarios. By integrating both, the Kirin Group comprehensively identifies related environmental issues and uses the analyses to assess risks and opportunities for its businesses, as well as their financial impacts. The report also covers the establishment of FLAG targets*1, water and land-use risk assessments based on the SBTs for Nature*2 methodology, and assessments of biological resources in line with the TNFD*3 LEAP approach*4.     FLAG stands for Forest, Land and Agriculture. It refers to GHG emissions reduction targets from agriculture, forestry, and other land use, required by SBTi for certification of science-based targets.

    SBTs for Nature is an initiative aimed at establishing science-based targets for the sustainable use of natural capital, complementing SBTi for climate change.

    TNFD is an abbreviation for the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures, a framework for companies to disclose and take action on risks and opportunities related to natural capital.

    LEAP approach is an approach recommended by TNFD to assess corporate nature-related risks and opportunities.
